On 23 October, our Director Prof. Dr Ulrike Cress took part in a high-profile panel discussion at the Cannstatter Forum. Under the title ‘Blessing or curse? Dealing with artificial intelligence (AI)’, the tension between the opportunities and risks of AI use was examined from different perspectives.

Joining Prof. Cress in the discussion were:

  • Petra Olschowski, Member of the State Parliament, Minister of Science, Research and the Arts for Baden-Württemberg
  • Prof. Dr. habil. Martin Plümicke, Professor of Computer Science, Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Stuttgart Campus Horb
  • Prof. Dr. Martin Wendte, Pastor of Friedenskirche and City Church Pastor in Ludwigsburg, Honorary Professor at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Ludwigsburg

The discussion was moderated by Peter Steinle, pastor and director of studies for theological ethics, specialising in digitality, at the Protestant Academy Bad Boll.

The event, a collaboration between the Protestant Deanery of Bad Cannstatt and the Protestant District Education Centre Stuttgart, offered visitors exciting insights into the opportunities and challenges that AI brings for science, society and ethics.
