Portrait of Georg Pardi

Georg Pardi has been a research associate at the IWM since 2018 in the Multimodal Interaction lab. He currently conducts research in the IWM’s Future Innovation Space within the project MINT-ProNeD. His work focuses on how innovative technologies such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and sensor systems can be effectively integrated into future learning environments.

In 2024, Georg Pardi received his PhD in Cognitive Science from the University of Tübingen. In his dissertation, he investigated how people search the internet for different types of knowledge and how various formats – such as text and video – influence this process. He previously completed a Master’s degree in E-Learning and Media Education at the University of Education Heidelberg. In his master’s thesis, he studied how learners evaluate and select search results when looking for procedural knowledge.

Main research topics:

  • Multimodal information search and learning using text, video, and interactive media
  • Instructional design for adaptive teaching scenarios
  • Design and use of immersive learning environments (e.g., virtual reality, immersive videos)
  • Cognitive and metacognitive processes during information seeking
  • Eye-tracking and interaction data to analyze cognitive and metacognitive processes
  • Design and evaluation of digital interfaces to support learning-oriented search processes
